Basic concepts

Explanation of some used words in this manual.

This article explains the basic concepts and terminology used within the Engage Process Teamboard. These terms are used throughout the application and may not always be immediately clear to new users.

In addition, this article briefly explains how the application is structured and how its layout can be adjusted to your personal preferences.

Workspace

The Workspace refers to the layout of the application interface. It determines which windows are visible and where they are positioned on the screen. Users can adjust the workspace to support their preferred way of working.

Engage Process Logo (Main Menu)

The Engage Process logo, located in the top-left corner of the application, opens the main menu. This menu provides access to general navigation options and application settings.

Work Item

A Work item is the highest-level action within Teamboard. Depending on the configuration and selected view, a work item can be broken down into smaller underlying tasks.

Card

A Card is the visual representation of a work item or task on the board. Cards are displayed in the following views:

  • Standard view

  • Kanban view

  • Task Board view

Cards help users quickly understand the status and progress of work.

View

A View defines how work items and tasks are displayed on the screen. Each view offers a different layout and level of detail, allowing users to choose the most suitable representation for their work.

Kanban

Kanban is a Japanese term originating from the LEAN philosophy. It describes a method for managing work as it moves through a process.

Within Teamboard, Kanban refers to a specific view that visualises work items as cards moving through different stages. This view focuses on workflow visibility and does not represent the structure of underlying tasks.
