How can I use Publisher even more effectively?

Preferences, importing and exporting overviews and search.

In this article, we look at some options not yet covered but worth mentioning.

Preferences

Click the ‘File’ tab at the top left and choose the ‘Preferences’ option. You can set a number of parameters here and specify whether you want to receive an email notification when a process is submitted for publication by an Engage Process Modeler user. This is on by default.

Importing and exporting overviews

Overviews can be shared between different Engage Process environments. This way, you can share an overview you designed. The other way around is also possible. For example, in the ‘Examples Library’ we have examples that you can download and import into your own environment. Of course, you can also receive and import overviews from other Engage Process customers/partners.

Import

  • Click on the ‘File’ tab and choose the ‘Open’ option.
  • On the right, select ‘Import from file’.
  • Choose a file with the extension ‘.emdz’ and press ‘Open’.

The overview will be imported and will be placed in the ‘For review’ window and opened so that you can start working immediately.

Export

  • Click on the ‘File’ tab and choose the ‘Save as’ option.
  • Choose the option:
  • ‘Download as PNG image’ if you want the currently opened review / process in the form of an image. You can then print, send or copy this image into another application, such as Word or PowerPoint.
  • ‘Download as file’ if you want to save the process in a file with the format ‘.emdz’. You can then send this file e.g. by e-mail to someone who also has Engage Process. This person can then use this file to import the overview into their environment.

Search

The ‘For review, “Publication” and “Archive” windows can (after a while) have quite a lot of content. If you still want to be able to find something quickly, enter a search query at the top of the window, as shown below.

Publisher search field EN

Note!

The publication window may contain folders. In that case, you will see the part of the folder structure containing diagrams that match the search query. Unfold these folders to see the actual diagrams listed.
