The Winter 2024 release of Engage Process went live on Monday , December 16th, 2024. Here, we provide some updated on new features and changes. As you have come to expect from us, several minor issues have been tightened and fixed, and some new features have been added.
Highlights
With this release, we begin the step-by-step introduction of redesigned modules, which take our platform to the next level. In this release, we introduce the Brainstorm App and the Viewer App with a completely redesigned UX (User-Experience). All existing functionalities remain, with usability and user experience improvements built in. In future releases, the other applications / modules in our platform will also be redesigned to further improve usability and user experience. A new Product Roadmap has been designed, where you can read more about future product plans and developments. This can be found in our Knowledge Center.
Below are additional details about the Winter 2024 release.
General
- The application header has been updated and now shows the Engage Process icon/logo in the top left. In the Modeler and Publisher, this replaces the ‘File’ tab. In the other modules, such as the Viewer and Brainstorm app, the ‘hamburger’ icon (the three horizontal bars) has been replaced with menu options for navigation.
- All modules have new icons that are now visible in the AppSwitcher (or the ‘cube’ button at the top right), buttons, browser/shortcut icons, etc.
- All icons referring to third-party applications in our icon library in the Admin Centre (e.g. Gmail, Outlook, etc.) have been updated to reflect current icon styles.
Modeler
- A new Disable/enable button has been added on the ‘View’ tab to prevent a laptop/PC from going into sleep mode. This can be useful during interactive process workshops.
- The number of participants in a task or meeting can now be specified in fractions. This makes it possible to indicate that a task, which can be performed by two different roles, has been completed and how. For example, 0.8 means that 80% of the time the task was done by role A, and 0.2, or 20% of the time by role B. These breaks are taken into account when evaluating this process.
- The overview of shared diagrams on the ‘Collaboration’ tab is split into active and expired shared diagrams. This can be viewed by clicking on the ‘Overview’ button and selecting the option 'Shared diagrams'.
- When save fails (due to a network error), all editing is blocked and a message appears allowing you to perform the save action again.
- When sharing processes without process links, the question about including process links is not displayed.
- When submitting for publication, you can now expand/collapse folders for a better overview of all diagrams.
- The switch between Modelling/Evaluation mode has been removed and replaced with ‘smarter’ behaviour, to automatically show/hide process results, process input and the pane 'Show measures'.
- Diagram folders are now saved/created when exporting/importing projects or diagrams in the Engage Process format. This means that the folder structure is now also part of the export and import.
Viewer App
- Completely new application! It supports all the functions of the previous Viewer App.
- Easier access to diagram search function.
- Improved layout and display of processes and process information.
- Easier to enter comments and improved display of comments.
- Available as Android, iOS and Windows app.

Publisher
- A new Viewer setting has been added to prevent process links and subprocesses from expanding and collapsing in the Viewer (App).
- You can now use multiselect when removing users from the comments notification list.
Brainstorm App
- Completely new application! It supports all the features of the previous Brainstorm App.
- Much better support and user interface on mobile phones.
- Support for entering your notes with formatted text. These are displayed correctly in the Modeler.
- Support for managing multiple brainstorming sessions with notes/ideas per session.
- Support for colouring/categorising notes before submission.
- Support for entering emoticons on your phone as part of your note. These are displayed correctly in the Modeler.
Teamboard
- Users with read-only access can now click and view/use the attached documents.
- A button has been added to refresh the board, which is especially useful for updating the board with new submitted findings from the Modeler.
Refactoring
We continue our efforts to refactor the platform code, making it cleaner, faster and more secure. Below are the highlights of the new release.
- Diagram validation has been further expanded, meaning that (more) corrupt diagrams are no longer stored. Please note that Engage Process will check and correct all diagrams currently stored in the database for all customers.
- We have further optimized the code of parts of the Modeler, Approval and Teamboard features to improve the user experience.
- The BPMN export has been updated and is now fully compliant with BPMN 2.0.
Support
If you experience a problem in one of our applications on or after the release day (December 16th), please try the following first:
- Press the following three keys simultaneously: <Shift> + <Ctrl> + <Del>;
- Specify the period which should be 'Everything'.
- Then choose to only delete images and cached files.
- If this does not solve the problem, check the box 'Cookies and other site data'.
